MITSUBISHI MOTORS GETS CITED FOR ECO PRACTICES
MITSUBISHI Motors Phils. Corp. (MMPC) announced it had received recognitions in the recently concluded 2012 EcoSwitch Awards—the Planet Award for Energy Efficiency and the EcoSwitch Certification Award.
The company explained that early this year, it had joined the Green Philippines Islands of Sustainability (GPIoS) Project, one of the four Switch projects that is implemented in the Philippines. It is funded by the European Union, and intends to generate economic profit by simultaneously increasing resource efficiency and minimizing environmental impact among companies.
The GPIoS Team conducted its initial and final assessments in May and August for on-site consultation and validation of performance, MMPC said.
MMPC said that its energy conservation efforts include reduction of heat-run time of generators, upgrade of air compressors from local to central control, inspection of air lines and repair of air leaks, limiting of air-conditioning temperature to within 24 degrees Celsius to 26 degrees Celsius, turning off of unnecessary lights and equipment during break periods or when not in use, optimization of materials delivery frequency, deletion of unnecessary parts, and replacement of fluorescent lights with LED. Other projects include decontamination of hazardous paint cans using recycled solvent, improvement of solvent application method, and use of returnable racks.
The programs helped cut production or maintenance costs and increase the company’s economical and ecological efficiency, according to MMPC. It added that more green programs are being conceptualized as a demonstration of the company’s commitment to the preservation of the environment, citing green procurement, green dealerships, rehabilitation of the capacitor bank, installation of waterless urinals, rainwater recovery, as among these.
HONDA CARS, UNION BANK LAUNCH NEW FINANCE DEALS
HONDA Cars Phils. Inc. (HCPI), together with Union Bank, announced it had launched the Honda Financing Option for its entire model lineup. The company said that the new program makes buying a Honda easier.
HCPI said that unlike the financing schemes of other brands that offer huge discounts but eventually recover this through astronomical interest rates, the Honda Financing Option provides customers with true savings through low down-payment and low interest rates.
Also, buyers of the Honda City who made their purchases through the Honda Financing Option get a free one-year comprehensive Honda Insurance coverage through Malayan or BPI/MS Insurance.
The Honda Financing Option is offered until October 31.

COMBINED AUTO, GUN SHOW READIES FOR 2012 STAGING
ORGANIZERS of the Manila Auto Salon bared they are ready for the sixth staging of the car show, which this year will be combined with the 20th Defense and Sporting Arms Show.
The event is scheduled to be held from November 29 to December 2 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia.
“This is the only motor show focused on the automotive after-market industry,” said Sophie de los Santos, president of Tradeshow International Inc. (TSI), which organizes the Manila Auto Salon and the Defense and Sporting Arms Show. “Speaking in the language of the marketers, the Manila Auto Salon is the closest link to your target market within the broad demography of car enthusiasts.”
TSI said that, every year, the show brings out the best in the car tuning scene in the country, where many of the participants had worked their way up by winning first at smaller events before eventually joining the pinnacle of the styling and tuning world—the Manila Auto Salon.
“Every year there is something new to see or an event to behold. This has brought in sponsors and participants every year, which is good for the industry and for the market,” de los Santos said.
For its part, the Defense and Sporting Arms Show draws about 100,000 spectators, according to TSI. The gun show is being held simultaneously with the car show for the first time, which is another perfect opportunity for competitors and sponsors to build relationships with their target market, TSI said.
