Lester Chuyap, the best finisher from among the members Rogin-E’s 24.7 triathlon team at the recent Cebu Ironman 70.3, quoted Yoda to sum up the needed tri-athlete mindset: “Do, there is no try.”
It is impossible to compete in even the least challenging of triathlons without 100% commitment to the sport. The sport’s Holy Grail is the Ironman Hawaii 140.6Triathlon, and even a 70.3 triathlon which is a “half-Ironman”, is already more brutal than most people can even comprehend. The Recent Ironman 70.3 held in Cebu featured a 1.5 km. swim, followed by a 90km bike ride, and finally, a 21km run.
The tri-athletes of Rogin-E’s 24.7 exemplify the needed triathlon mindset perfectly. The name 24.7 was derived from what those on the team have to do in order to balance their torturous training schedules with their already very hectic lives. 24.7 is not composed of professional athletes, 24.7’s members are professionals who are athletes. In fact 24.7 team member Poch Ballesteros singles this out as the reason why the members of 24.7 banded together: “We are people with the same situation: Careers/businesses to take care of during the day, limited time to train, and children to raise.”
A working tri-athlete needs to be more disciplined than a professional athlete, there is no such thing as an “executive triathlon”, when the executives and entrepreneurs of Rogin-E’s 24.7 join triathlons, they need to run the same distance as the pros, and they are bound by the same time restrictions. Unlike professional tri-athletes who can focus only on training, the members of 24.7 need to balance training with demanding jobs or businesses, as well as raising families. Poch sees this as a plus though, as there is something to be learned from it: “Triathlon will force you to make very efficient use of your time.”
It isn’t always easy, Romulo Dapo, a fifty year-old tri-athlete from 24.7 laments: “Honestly speaking, quality time with my family is sometimes eaten up by training time. So to make up for it, I bring them along to out of town competitions”. In Cebu, not only did most of the members bring their kids, but it was clear that the kids all know each other and are used to each other’s company. At the Cebu Ironman, 24.7 looked more like a family reunion than a triathlon team. At the triathlon itself though, Rogin-E’s 24.7 was all business, despite being a team of 1st and 2nd year tri-athletes, every member of 24.7 finished the race within the allotted time limit.
24.7 chose Bayer’s Rogin-E as a partner, because no multivitamin on the market has Rogin-E’s unique combination of Korean Panax Ginseng, Deanol and Royal Jelly. Rogin-E provides endurance, potency and vitality for the man on top, just like the executive tri-athletes of 24.7.
