Fashion forces down south gather once again for the second Mindanao Fashion Summit. Designers, models, directors, stylists, retail labels and hair and make-up artists from Cagayan de Oro (CDO), Butuan, Iligan, General Santos and Davao will showcase their creativity in a three-day extravaganza at CDO’s Rotunda, Lim Ket Kai Center.
With the Department of Tourism Region X, the Oro Fashion Designers Guild, with Mark Christopher Yaranon as president, is spearheading this initiative to uplift and elevate the level of creativity, craftsmanship and camaraderie among the island’s fashion folk. Like last year, fashion legend Christian Espiritu will be the summit’s guest of honor.
On January 4, “Menswear,” with Glenn Cabaral as director, will open MFS at 5 p.m. featuring Benjie Manuel, Boogie Musni Rivera, Celeste Magsalay, Gil Macaibay 3rd, John Mark Magallanes, Joshua Guibone, Juniel Doring, Kiko Domo, Mark Christopher Yaranon, Dodjie Batu and Edgar Buyan.
The second day, January 5, will showcase Aztec Barba, Jeffrey Garde & Oscar Flores, Jinky Petalcorin and Popoy Barba. The 5 p.m. show’s director is Vince Aranas.
The Designers Assembly, composed of young designers, will show at 5 p.m. on January 6. They are Rivera, Magallanes, Doring and Domo with Angela Soriano, Ann Semblante, Mark Dominguez, Mavy Cooper de Leon and Primo Zayas.
The OFDG will close the annual festivities at 6 p.m. Cap-atan, Manuel, Magsalay, Macaibay, Guibone and Yaranon will be joined by Alma Mae Roa, Sunshine CasiNo, Villa Go, and Dubai-based Darwin Buo and Manila-based Roel Rosal.
