Singer and seasoned stage actor Calvin Millado who will double with Aiza Seguerra as The Genie in Aladdin revealed to The Manila Times that more than just strutting his stuff on stage for Atlantis Productions, the company gives him the chance to put on a businessman’s hat as well whenever he pleases.

“I usually buy a night or two of Atlantis’ shows, which depending on the venue costs anywhere from P250,000 to P450,000,” he revealed. “I sell a portion of the tickets through SM Ticketnet and then the rest myself, and easily earn 50 percent of the cost.”

According to the Atlantis mainstay, getting involved in the business side of stage productions allows him to combine his love for theater and his responsibilities as a husband and father of two.

“As everyone knows, being in theater doesn’t exactly put food on the table,” Calvin laughed. “So buying nights justifies the long hours I put into rehearsals. I get to express my art and be a family man at the same time. What more can I ask for?”

On this, his third theater project for the year, Calvin enthused, “I am very excited to play the Genie and I look forward to the big production numbers that will showcase my skills as a dancer!”
