De La Salle University is leading the overall championship race of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines after the first semester events of the Season 75 seniors division.
La Salle has 152 points, just eight points ahead of reigning champion University of Santo Tomas (144).
Perennial title contender University of the Philippines has 108 points for third followed by Ateneo de Manila University with 107 points, Far Eastern University with 93 points, host National University with 71 points, University of the East with 57 points and Adamson University with 51 points.
The Green Archers earned majority of their points when they ruled the women’s table tennis and tae kwon do, and added more points in placing second in the men’s swimming, men’s tae kwon do, women’s table tennis and women’s basketball events.
UST, on the other hand, banked on the first-place finishes of the men’s and women’s judo teams, men’s table tennis, women’s beach volleyball and men’s tae kwon do as well as the runner-up exploits of the Growling Tigers in the recently-concluded men’s basketball tournament.
There are eight more events to be played in the second semester. They are athletics, football, chess, fencing, baseball, softball, tennis and indoor volleyball.

MVP PARKS EMERGES AS FIRST OWNER OF GALAXY NOTE II
National University’s Bobby Ray Parks Jr. kept the UAAP MVP plum with another sterling all-around performance in Season 75 and won a brand new Samsung Galaxy Note II, making him the first owner of the soon-to-be-launched smartphone.
Parks, son of former PBA seven-time Best Import and Hall of Famer Bobby Parks, piled up 77.2857 statistical points (SP) to clinch the coveted individual crown while leading the Bulldogs to the Final Four.
“It’s a great honor to be chosen once again as the MVP for this season. I’d also like to thank Samsung for awarding me with the very first Galaxy Note II.” said Parks.
Parks, also a member of the Mythical team who is reportedly being eyed by two NBA teams, said that making it to the UAAP finals next season would be his next goal.
The Galaxy Note II is powered by Android 4.1, Jelly Bean OS, bringing stunning graphical capabilities and an upgraded Google Now service, including new features such as contextual search to the Galaxy Note II. The phone comes with 16GB internal memory (can be expanded up to 32GB) and a microSD slot .
