Chery Motors Philippines, a China-based automotive company, is aiming to be known as the people’s car in the Philippines and eyeing to corner two percent of the market share on sedans by 2014.

Dr. Si Chung Chang, chief executive director of Chery Motors Philippines Inc., the sole distributor of Chery Automobiles Ltd. from China—said that they are looking forward to expanding operations by putting up 30 dealerships in the country.

Chery already has eight active dealerships. Chang said that they plan to establish 15 more by next year. He added that when they have opened 30 dealerships, the company expects each outlet to sell five Chery vehicles every month.

“We are targeting to get 1,800 units yearly by 2014. We are not here to take everything for the sedan section of the automotive market, we are here to give people a choice,” he explained.

He said that they wanted their vehicles to be known as people’s car because these cars are reasonably priced.

“We want to give Filipinos a choice, a second option on vehicles that has value for money,” Chang told The Manila Times.

At the same time, he said that     their company wants to elimin    ate the stigma on China-made vehicles having insufficient parts in the country.

“We have already strengthened our aftermarket service in the country,” Chang said.

“Now I assure parts and service will not be a problem anymore,” he added, explaining that they will stock up their inventory on parts twice a month to ensure that there would be no
shortage of spare parts.

So far, Chery has introduced five models in the country and the company plans to bring in three to five more models more.

Earlier, ISEWAY Motors Phils. Inc. (IMPI), Philippine dealer of Chery Vehicles, said that they are offering lease agreement on fleet-purchase for corporate buyers.

Chang said that the program—called “QuickLease,”—allows vehicle operation for as low as P467 a day, maximizing profitability for both the entrepreneur and the corporate user.

IMPI explained that QuickLease is not the same as the “car-for-lease” offered by other companies.

“QuickLease is an alternative and the quickest way of acquiring brand-new cars for companies in need of vehicles for their operations without hurting the bottom line,” Chang, said.

The leasing agreement includes free Land Transportation Office registration fees, comprehensive insurance with AOG coverage, and free preventive maintenance service (includes wear-and-tear parts, subject to terms and conditions).

Chery on Tuesday signed a memorandum of agreement with The Manila Times in their bid to start the reinforce their marketing in the country.

“This is a symbol that we are starting to do marketing slowly. And this is a sign that we are ready to serve the people in the Philippines of good quality and service,” Chang said.
