It’s going to be a battle between the best fighters in the flyweight division as World Boxing Organization (WBO) flyweight champion Brian “The Hawaiian Punch” Viloria clashes with World Boxing Association (WBA) flyweight champion Hernan “Tyson” Marquez of Mexico in a unification bout at the Los Angeles Sports Arena, today.

Marquez underwent training under Robert Garcia, who used to coach Viloria for the most parts of his career. On whether he sees this as a threat, Viloria said: “I am not worried in the least. It has been two years since I’ve been with Garcia and I have changed my style and strategies considerably. They [Team Garcia] think they know me but they are wrong.”

Like Pacquiao, Viloria also earned the moniker “Mexicutioner,” from scoring one victory after another against Mexican pugs Julio Cesar Miranda, Giovani Segura and Omar Niño Romero.

“My winning streak against Mexican fighters will continue and the Mexican style fits well within my style,” said Viloria, who is now mentored by the legendary Freddie Roach, pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao’s trainer.

The 31-year-old Viloria holds a record of 31 wins including 18 knockouts, and three losses against the 24-year-old Marquez’s 34 wins including 25 knockouts, and two losses.

The Viloria vs. Marquez airs via satellite from Los Angeles on GMA 7’s Laban ng Lahi at 3 p.m. (after Party Pilipinas). The bout can also be followed live on GMA’s flagship AM station Super Radyo DzBB 594 MHz at 10 a.m., while a television replay of the match will be aired on GMA News TV, Channel 11 at 10 p.m.
