CALGARY, CANADA: To ensure a clean fourth fight between eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao and Mexican legend Juan Manuel Marquez, the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) named new judges for the December 8 fight.
Adelaide Byrd of Las Vegas, Steve Weisfeld of New Jersey and John Keane of Great Britain were named judges for the non-title Pacquiao-Marquez 4 bout.
NSAC named Kenny Bayless as the third man in the ring.
The fans, media and longtime boxing observers accused the judges of Pacquiao’s last fight with Timothy Bradley of being either incompetent or corrupt after Bradley emerged as the winner, despite Compubox records showing that the Filipino outpunched the American 190 of 493 against 108 of 390.
Philippine Ambassador to Canada, Leslie Gatan, who is touring the country to encourage provincial and business leaders to invest in the Philippines, said that the new judges should not commit the same mistake as with the Pacquiao-Bradley fight.
“Manny will crush Marquez with ease and probably stop him a lot earlier than people think,” said Gatan who is a native of Cabagan, Isabela province. He called on his fellow Filipinos to pray for Pacquiao adding that he hopes the People’s Champ would visit Canada in the very near future.
