Bautista takes out six EDSA billboards

The Quezon City government, on orders of Mayor Herbert Bautista, has issued notices of demolition to operators of at least six roof billboards and signages displayed along the stretch of EDSA for failure to comply with the provisions of the National Building Code as well as local permit issuance rules and regulations.

Of the six roof billboards and signages, four are being operated by Geno Feliciano of Okachi Neon. These are the Yokohama tire advertisement mounted at the Argo Bldg. at 574 Edsa corner Brgy. Socorro; back to back Jolibee advertisement installed at the Global Trade Center at 1024 Edsa corner Ramon Magsaysay; the Union electric fan advertisement at a building located at 1148 Edsa corner Apolonio Samson and another billboard mounted at HPI Corp. at 1026 Edsa corner Ramon Magsaysay.

Also issued demolition orders are operators of Ultra media, which maintains roof billboards at Francisco Gold 2 Bldg. at Edsa corner Mapagmahal St., in Brgy. Piñahan and Wellmade/Infinity advertising, which operates the Air Asia advertisement at the Edsa Plaza building at Edsa corner Quezon Ave. in Brgy. South Triangle.

The department of public order and safety, through its security and investigation division, and the department of building official, are coordinating efforts to ensure the enforcement of the demolition order.

The city government has already issued the second notice of demolition to the concerned billboard operators.

Last month, the city government, through the department of public order and safety, has already dismantled the roof signages and billboards as well as structures of similar nature operated by the Congressional Commercial Corp. along the Edsa-Munoz area.

Advertising signs posing imminent danger to life and property as well as those that are constructed within river easements and roads-right-of-way are covered by the demolition order.
