ROXAS HINTS OF REPLACING PUNO
INTERIOR and Local Government Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas 2nd hinted that the next Undersecretary for Public Safety held by former controversial Undersecretary Rico Puno, is a man who knows the needs of the Philippine National Police.

Speaking at the 21st Anniversary celebration of the Bureau of Fire Protection, Roxas told reporters that he already consulted President Benigno Aquino 3rd his personal choices to replace the post vacated by Puno. When President Aquino named Roxas to fill in the post left by the late Jesse Robredo after that tragic plane crash off Masbate , he gave the new SILG free hand to bring a team of his choice. The list of candidates, according to Roxas, has been trimmed down to three or four whom he described as men with dedication who will work for the good of the government. JING VILLAMENTE

FIVE ROBBERS DIE IN QC GUN BATTLE
Five robbers were killed in a shootout in the Fairview area in Quezon City on Tuesday night. The slain robbers were about to pounce on a computer shop on Fairlane Avenue in Fairview when patrolling policemen chanced upon them. The suspects opened fire on police prompting the lawmen to fight back killing three of them on the spot while two others were rushed to a nearby hospital but were also declared dead upon arrival. Initial investigation showed the computer shop was about to close when a police team chanced on the suspects, who fired on the policemen triggering a shoot-out. JING VILLAMENTE
