KOREAN FOUND DEAD
CABANATUAN CITY: A Korean businessman was found dead inside his rented apartment on Tuesday morning.
Authorities identified the victim as Lee Chang Bum, 55, businessman, of Santiago apartment in Brgy. San Josef Norte. According to the neighbor of the victim, he heard a heated argument of the Korean with another Korean before Lee was found dead. Lee’s close friend, Lim Kunsu Lee said that he noticed that the victim was not in his store the whole day. He tried to contact the victim through his cellphone but there wasn’t any answer so he went to the Korean’s apartment. The victim was found sprawled at the floor of the comfort room, his hand handcuffed and his face wrapped in packaging tape. The victim’s Toyota Innova (ZCU 763) was also found burned near his residence. CHRIS SANSANO
LA UNION DRUG LORD GOES BEHIND BARS
The notorious leader of a drug group operating in the province of La Union finally fell in the hands of agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) during an entrapment operation on November 5, 2012. Undersecretary Arturo Cacdac Jr., director general of PDEA, identified the suspect as Michael Lagasca, alias Kenneth, 32 years old, a bus conductor and resident of Brgy. San Eugenio, Aringay, La Union. At about 5:40 p.m., a PDEA Regional Office 1 (PDEA RO1) undercover agent, who posed as a buyer, booked a transaction with Lagasca to purchase a plastic sachet of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or popularly known as shabu, in Brgy. Sta. Ana, Agoo, La Union. After the transaction was consummated, PDEA RO1 operatives under Dir. Rogelio Cabrera, with the assistance of La Union Police, immediately arrested Lagasca who also yielded another sachet of shabu to the authorities.
