Massacre suspect back in jail for 16th time

The suspect in the killing of three women in Sta. Cruz, Manila goes back behind bars for the 16th time in a criminal career spanning 20 years beginning at age the of14 as a snatcher, the Manila Police District reported on Tuesday.


PO3 Rodel Benitez, case investigator of MPD-Homicide Section said that barangay police Nestor Delizalde Jr., 34, was arrested by barangay police between 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Batangas St. corner Molave St. in Tondo, Manila on Monday.

Benitez said that Delizalde is now facing criminal charges of robbery with homicide for killing Evelyn Tan, 40, bank employee, her mother Teresa Tan, 65 and house helper Kristina Bartolay, 22, on Monday.

“He will be back in jail for the 16th time now,” he said.

Delizalde has been in and out of jail for some 20 years having experienced getting jailed for the first time at 14 after he was arrested for snatching a lady’s bag.

According to Benitez the witnesses pointed to Delizalde coming out from the house of bank Evelyn, 40, bloodied.

“He was ready to fight with us. He was there to buy an improvised gun,” the police said.

Delizalde in an interview with reporters admitted that he had taken the P19,000-cash and other valuables inside the victims’ house, saying that his intention was only to rob the house but things went out of hand when the victims went hysterical, screaming as he was about to leave the house.

According to police, the suspect admitted taking illegal drugs before the incident.

The police added that recovered from the suspect were two cellular phones, one pair of sunglasses, one seven-inch ice pick, the suspect’s barangay ID, coins and P2,210 cash.
