FATHER GETS 23 YEARS FOR RAPING DAUGHTER
Life sentence is what a father got for raping his own daughter as a Quezon City court sentenced him to suffer a penalty of reclusion perpetua, without eligibility for parole. In his decision, Judge Eleuterio Bathan of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 92 found Francisco Matobato guilty beyond reasonable doubt of the crime of rape. “Per judicious analysis of the testimony of the victim it is crystal clear that she was raped by her father,” said Bathan in his decision. “In short, the victim rendered a complete and credible narration of her ordeal at the hands of the accused whom she positively identified in court. Her testimony was given in an honest and believable manner, devoid of any hint of falsity or attempt at fabrication,” the decision added. The victim said that the incident happened in November 1, 2004 when she was left alone at the house of her grandmother. JING VILLAMENTE
