CHR recommends disarming of 5 policemen in summary slay try

An official of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) has recommended to CHR chief Loreta Ann Rosales to ask the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) to disarm five of its police officers

involved in the botched slaying of Rommel Solarte last November 4 near the Philippine Coconut Authority (Philcoa) office in Quezon City.

Lawyer Carmelita Rosete, head of CHR National Capital Region (NCR) Investigation made the recommendation after receiving reports that the group of PO1 Jomar Torapiel planned to liquidate not only Solarte’s relatives but also possible witnesses, who might turn against them.

Rosete said that the CHR began coordinating with the local police to show documents that will substantiate Solarte’s claims.

Other QCPD policemen involved in the alleged failed slaying are PO1 Glen Laron, SPO1 Alejandro Dano-og, SPO1 Mando Rivera and SPO1 Jose Agob.

QCPD Director Mario Dela Vega plans to include the five accused in the police lineup.

Rosales said that the CHR is still conducting further investigation to determine the probable liability of the five accused police officers.

Dela Vega said that the QCPD is conducting its own investigation, adding that he will not condone the illegal acts of his subordinates as he intends to rid the force of scalawags.
