Low-pressure area likely to bring rains

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Wednesday spotted a new low-pressure area (LPA) east of Mindanao but said it has a small chance to turn into a tropical cyclone.

Weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said that as of 4 a.m. on Wednesday, the LPA was located at 660 km. east of Mindanao (8.0°N, 133.0°E) and was embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Visayas and Mindanao.

These areas will have cloudy skies with moderate to heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms that may trigger flash floods and landslides. LPA is expected to dissipate within the day because it will interact inland.

The agency continues to monitor the weather disturbance until it leaves the PAR or dissipates.

Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon including Metro Manila will have partly cloudy skies with passing light rains mostly in the afternoon or evening due to the localized convection, Aurelio said
In its advisory, Pagasa said that the regions of Bicol, eastern Visayas and Caraga will be cloudy with occasional moderate to heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms which may trigger flashfloods and landslides.

Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) and the rest of Visayas and Mindanao will have occasional light to moderate rainshowers or thunderstorms, while the Cagayan Valley region and the provinces of Quezon and Aurora will have light rains.
