Credit card forgers go on buying binge

Three members of credit card forgery group were nabbed Tuesday night while shopping with fake credit cards belonging to another holder in Quezon City.



Now detained at the Cubao Police Station 7 of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) are Chelom Alamagi, 23 of No. 18 Everlasting St., Bougambella Subd., Las Piñas City; Red Lopez, 29 -anyos ng
No.116 Lanai Condo, Brgy. Libis, Quezon City and Mark Atienza, 26 of Green Park, Cainta, Rizal.

Supt. Ramon Pranada, QCPD station 7 commander said the arrest was made after security guards of Shop Wise were alerted when a cashier noticed that the Master Visa Credit card the trio was using to buy over P14,000 worth of groceries had an erasure on the card’s expiration date. A check on the name indicated in card, Mariejin Dizon of Consul Street, Fairview made the department store’s cashier realize the card is a “clone.”

Jessica Franco, the cashier who noticed the credit card immediately asked the security guards to hold the three for using a fake credit card.

During the inquest proceedings, Assistant City Prosecutor Nicasio Rosales slapped the trio with violating RA 8484 or the Access Devices Regulation Act of 1998 (unauthorized use of credit card) and grave threat for berating the security personnel.
