SINCE Yuletide is just around the corner, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has started deploying “Santa” traffic constables in its newly opened “Christmas” lanes.
Yves Gonzalez, the MMDA traffic discipline head, even posted an Instagram photo showing MMDA traffic constables wearing Santa hats manning traffic in one of the Christmas Lanes.
The MMDA on Wednesday formally opened the “Christmas Lanes” or the 12 alternate routes for motorists to avoid getting stuck in heavy traffic during the Holiday.
MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino urged the public to use these new Christmas Lanes, which will lead to and from shopping centers in Makati City, Pasay, Quezon City, San Juan, Manila, and Marikina, where traffic volume is usually heavy during the month of December.
“We’re hoping that these Christmas Lanes will help motorists plan their trips well and avoid traffic congestion,” the said.
