New PNP chief starts reshuffle of key senior officers
THE Philippine National Police (PNP) has started the reshuffle of some of its senior officers on Wednesday prelude to a wide ranging revamp ahead of the election ban for the movement of government personnel.
The movement of some senior officers came several days after the change of police leadership following the forced ‘early retirement’ of former PNP Chief, Nicanor Bartolome.
Among the positions affected by Wednesday’s reshuffle in the PNP are the offices of the Directorates for Intelligence, Personnel Records Management, Plans, the Special Action Force (SAF) and the Western Mindanao regional police office.
The movement, according to PNP spokesman, Chief Supt. Generoso Cerbo Jr., was contained in general orders issued by the higher headquarters based in the directive of newly installed PNP chief, Director Alan Purisima.
Former SAF commander, Director Cipriano Querol has been named as the new PNP Director for Intelligence, while his old post was taken over by Chief Supt. Carmelo Valmoria, the former director for Caraga Police office.
The former PNP director for intelligence, Director Ager Ontog has already moved-up to the post of the PNP chief of directorial staff, the former post of the newly appointed PNP chief.
On the other hand, Director Catalino Cuy has been named as the new PNP director for personnel and records management, while Chief Supt Napoleon Estilles has been named as new head of the PNP Directorate for Plans.
Taking over Estilles’ old position as director for Western Mindanao police office is Chief Supt. Juanito Vano.
