STATE forecasters detected a low-pressure area (LPA) that is moving closer to Mindanao, which could bring rain showers and thunderstorms over eastern Visayas and Mindanao.
As of yesterday, the low-pressure was 1,110 kilometers east of Mindanao, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Weather forecasters said that heavy rains could fall on a huge area in Mindanao today until tomorrow.
The weather bureau continues to monitor the LPA even if it has a slim chance of developing into a typhoon. If it will turn into a cyclone, it will be named as Bising.
Meanwhile, Pagasa said that the northeast monsoon is affecting Northern Luzon. Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail throughout the archipelago and the coastal waters will be moderate to rough.
Eastern Visayas and Mindanao will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms. Cagayan Valley will experience cloudy skies with light rain. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy with brief rainshowers or thunderstorms.
