LA TRINIDAD, Benguet: Lack of training and problems of debt collection hound Benguet-based cooperatives, so said Lilia Koh, provincial coop officer recently.
According to her, there is a need for coop members to undergo financial trainings in order for the cooperative to do better financially.
Koh said that most cooperatives in the province, however, are reeling from financial difficulties for their cooperative members to avail of training. A participant to the training is expected to pay from P1,200 to 1,800.
However, she is thankful that the provincial government has recently allocated funds for a trai-ner’s training.
After the trainer’s training, she said that they expect to have local trainers who could now give trainings to the different cooperatives based in the different municipalities.
“We could now reach out to them, instead of them going to La Trinidad, or Baguio City for train-ings,” she said.
We could now service small cooperatives, Koh added.
Meanwhile, the province of Ben-guet is hosting its first provincial wide cooperative convention on October 17 to 18, at the Ben Palispis Auditorium, La Trinidad.
The province will host a mini-trade fair, during the two-day affair.
