Two gunmen kill Basilan cashier, cart away P2.4M

ZAMBOANGA CITY: An unidentified gunman shot dead a finance officer of the Basilan provincial office and took away his bag containing over P2 million in payroll money, police said on Tuesday.

It said that Nurhasan Sakili was killed minutes after stepping out of a local bank in Isabela City. Sakili was heading back to his office when the attack occurred on Monday afternoon.

The assailant escaped on a motorcycle driven by a masked man and police said that the duo took some P2.4 million in salaries for the employees.

Police said that robbery was the likely motive of the killing. It was not immediately known why Sakili had no security escort or how the gunmen knew the victim was carrying a huge amount of money.
