The Department of Justice (DOJ) recommended on Thursday the filing of case against 10 suspected members of a notorious robbery gang operating within Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
DOJ recommended the filing of cases against members: Ludy “Boy” Dagu-pioso, Red Marlon Guarino, Ritchie “Jun Negro” Cahinta, Princess Losa, Almario “Allan” Rentillosa, Luiz “Kingkong” Bondoc, Arvin Manal, Jonnalyn “Jhonna” Sarmiento, Janice Brillatica, and Ronelyn “Rhea” Consorte.
They will be filed with illegal possession of firearms and explosives in different trial courts. DOJ recommended, too, the charging of three suspects with illegal drug possession once it was proven in the preliminary investigation by the Parañaque City Police.
They were arrested after an intense car chase from Sucat to San Antonio, Parañaque City on October 6. The police recovered several firearms and explosives, including loaded .38 revolvers, a hand grenade and a .9mm pistol.
According to police records, the gang was identified to operate a colorum GT/UV Express van plying the Sucat-Lawton route to pick up and prey on passengers. They usually use gun, stun gun, or knife to threaten the victims. They would force the victims to give their belongings and at times, withdraw money from their ATMs.
The group was allegedly behind the killing of Justice Secretary Leila de Lima’s security aide Alister Quintos in May. According to de Lima, the case is technically solved but charges have to be filed yet.
“If we’re talking about the identification of the suspects, we can say that indeed the case is solved. But in my perspective, case should be solved if only there are formal charges filed to the court,” de Lima said.
