Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested two female drug peddlers in separate buy-bust operations in the cities of Tagum and Davao.
PDEA director general Undersecretary Arturo Cacdac Jr. identified the suspects as Janet Tan, 38 years old, separated, a resident of Encomienda Cmpd., Purok Rambotan, Visayan Village, Tagum City; and Eden Grace Ugmad Amba, 37 years old, married, a beautician, of Blk. 64, Lot 16, Phase 1, SIR Matina, Davao City.
Tan was arrested in Purok Rambotan by operatives of PDEA Regional Office 11 (PDEA RO11) and Davao del Norte Provincial Drug Enforcement Office under Director Emerson Rosales during an entrapment operation on October 17, 2012.
She was caught red-handed selling one plastic sachet of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, to a PDEA poseur-buyer. Further search on Tan yielded three more sachets of shabu.
Meanwhile, on October 18, elements of PDEA RO11 arrested Amba in a buy-bust operation conducted in her neighborhood in Matina, Davao after she sold one sachet of shabu to a poseur-buyer. Operatives were able to recover 20 more sachets of shabu weighing approximately two grams from Amba.
Charges for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Sec.11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article 2 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Drugs Act of 2002, are now being prepared for filing in court against Tan and Amba.
They are presently detained at the PDEA RO11 jail facility.
