LAWYER CHEATS DEATH IN AGOO SHOOTING
CAMP B/GEN. OSCAR FLORENDO, San Fernando City, La Union: Police Chief Superintendent Franklin Jesus Bucayu, Region 1 police director ordered the creation of Special Investigation

Task Group to conduct an in-depth investigation of the shooting of lawyer Lazaro Gayo in Barangay Consolacion, Agoo, La Union province on October 29. Gayo, 61, of Barangay Garcia in Tubao town and candidate for provincial board member was shot by an unidentified man while he was sitting inside the Posadas-Gayo Law office. He took a gunshot wound on the right side of his body and he was brought to a nearby hospital for immediate medical treatment. The suspect immediately fled on a motorcycle and has the following description— 5’4” in height, medium built, about 35 years old, short hair, wearing white t-shirt and with brown complexion.

TWO DRUG MULES SEIZED IN ROMBLON
Two suspected couriers of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu were arrested at the Romblon pier during a seaport interdiction operation conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in collaboration with the Philippine National Police and the Philippine Coast Guard. Undersecretary Arturo Cacdac Jr., PDEA director general, identified the suspects as Reynante Magada, 32, a fish vendor of Barangay 2, Romblon, Romblon province; and Rocel Par, 31, a security guard from Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro province. Par is an employee of Triton Security Agency and detailed at M/V Xenia Montenegro Shipping Lines. The two suspects were arrested on October 28, 2012 by operatives of PDEA Romblon Provincial Office under Director Bryan Babang and augmented by the local law enforcers.

TOP BICOL LAWMAN AXED OVER ILLEGAL GAMBLING
NAGA CITY: Philippine National Police director general Nicanor Bartolome sacked his provincial director in Camarines Sur over the issue of illegal gambling. Bicol PNP spokesman Col. Renato Bataller said that Col. Ramon Ranara who was barely three months provincial commander of Camarines Sur was ordered relieved on Monday allegedly because of the rampant illegal bookies and operation of jai-alai operated by Meredien Vista Gaming Corp. from Cagayan Economic Zone Authority. Earlier, Col. Ranara told the local media that he cannot order Meredien Gaming operation to stop because he has yet to receive an order from the PNP leadership to stop the numbers game. Ranara contended that he cannot stop the operation of jai-alai saying it has the permit to operate from the mayors.
