THE Philippine National Police has begun tracking down former mayor Dominador “Jun” Jalosjos of Dapitan City who had been convicted by the court for robbery in the 70s.
The Western Mindanao police office has created Task Force Jun Aresto for the manhunt operations against the former mayor.
Chief Supt. Napoleon Estilles, police director in western Minda-nao also appealed to the public to help in tracking down Jalosjos, whose conviction was affirmed by the Supreme Court.
The police official said that the task force was created for the immediate arrest of the former mayor, also a brother of convicted rapist and former representative, Romeo Jalosjos of Zamboanga City.
Jun Jalosjos and three others were convicted for robbery chargers by a Regional Trial Court in Cebu City in April 1970 and were sentenced to four years in prison, which Jalosjos appealed but was denied.
Despite being sentenced to prison by the court, Jalosjos was still able to run for public office and won a term as a mayor of Dapitan City, but his victory cut short when the Commission on Elections declared the result invalid.
