A magnitude 5.2 earthquake rocked towns along the coast of Sultan Kudarat province on Sunday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
The quake, recorded at 4:28 dawn has a depth of 612 kilometers. Its epicenter was located 49km southwest of the coastal town of Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat.
No casualty or damage to property was reported.
Phivolcs said that the tremor was slightly felt in the coastal towns of Lebak, Kalamansig and Palimbang because its epicenter was traced in the Moro Gulf.
Phivolcs said that the earthquake was tectonic in origin or movement of tectonic plate in the Moro Gulf.
The agency noted that aftershocks are expected.
