22 injured as truck falls into ravine in Abra

At least 22 people on board a dump truck were injured after the driver of the said vehicle lost control and hit a tree before falling into a ravine in Abra province over the weekend.


The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council on Sunday reported that the incident occurred at about 5 p.m. on Saturday along the Abra Kalinga Road in Barangay Mudiit in Dolores town.

The Disaster agency said that the 22 passengers were rushed to Abra Provincial Hospital for treatment. It identified them as Vicente Jaquias, 57; Darwin Valdez, 31; Arlene Flores, 21; Ma. Elena Valdez, 29; Condrado Valdez, 25; Ma. Nerissa Fontanilla, 27; Dyllan Thor Fontanilla, 25; Dale Xyril Fontanilla, 2; Wilson Jaquias, 21;

Erika Abad, 9; Darlen Jay Valdez, 8; April Joy Valdez, 7; John Carlo Abad, 6; Nassel Abad, 35; Margaret Jaquias, 31; Andrei John Jaquias, 9; John Lloyd Enclonar, 12; Elizabeth Blanes, 25; Eric Blanes, 5; Chavit Jaquias, 2; Oliver Blanco, 11; and John Rey Blanco, 11

Initial investigation showed that the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to hit a tree and fall into the ravine.
