SEVERAL families were evacuates in Surigao del Norte province because of flash floods and landslides brought by the tail end of a cold front.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, at least 10 families, or 47 people were evacuated and one house was damaged in Brgy. del Rosario.
While 35 families, or 167 people were evacuated in Brgy. Cawilan because of the flash flood that hit Tubod town in Surigao del Norte at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
The agency added that the evacuation is still ongoing, while Brgy. Hinayhayan and Sitio Tagmalinao in Cagwait in the province are partly flooded and the national highway along Brgy. Hinayhayan was impassable because of a landslide.
The council also said that Mayor Cristina Arcillas of Tubod, sought assistance in evacuating the families in the isolated area because of the sudden rise of the Magpayang River.
Meanwhile, the agency said that Butuan City’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, noted the water level at Agusan River was 2.3 meters above sea level.
