Camp Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet: Twenty police men from all over the Police Regional Office-Cordillera (PRO-Cordillera) were recently dismissed from service and 17 police noncommissioned officers were suspended as part of the disciplinary action imposed to erring members of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
This was according to Chief Supt. Samuel Diciano, deputy regional director of PRO-Cordillera said that in line with the PNP’s LOI “Patnubay” or disciplinary actions imposed to erring PNP personnel, PRO-Cordillera sustains its commitment to cleanse the ranks for those who refuse to toe the line.
Diciano said that for the month of January 2009 to present, a total of 48 PNP personnel regionwide were dismissed and suspended from the service. Of the 48 personnel, 20 were dismissed with two police commissioned officers; 17 noncommissioned officers; and, one non-uniformed personnel. Those who were given suspension orders were two commissioned officers and 26 noncommissioned officers for a total of 28.
Diciano explained that the enforcement of disciplinary actions is part of PRO-Cordillera’s intervention to “clean up the ranks and weed out defiant police officers.” However, he further said that preemptive measures are being undertaken by the command for the transformation of the erring police personnel for them to have a new sense of responsibility and commitment to the police service.
Meanwhile, Regional Director Police Chief Supt. Orlando Pestano said that PRO-Cordillera is consistent with its mission and programs in line with the Integrated Transformation Program of the PNP. This aims to strengthen and reform policemen within the region particularly those maligned officers in the performance of their duties and responsibilities.
