THE National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) will be on red alert for five days starting today to closely monitor and swiftly respond to any untoward incident during the New Year’s revelry.
Disaster Executive Director Benito Ramos said that they will be on alert to support the Department of Health’s “Apir Project,” the Philippine National Police’s “Oplan Iwas Paputok” and the “Oplan Ligtas Biyahe” of the Department of Transportation and Communication.
As of Friday, 48 cases firework-related injuries have been reported in the Ilocos region alone. Most of the victims were children.
