‘Mina’ triggers Benguet state of calamity

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet: Benguet is under a state of calamity.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan declared so after Gov. Nestor Fongwan trotted out grim statistics of the damage typhoon Mina has brought to the province.
The declaration was made Wednesday during an emergency meeting called for the purpose.
As of the latest casualty reports, three persons died and six were injured.

The victims were identified as Rodolfo Gagucas of Gate Ucab, Itogon, Benguet; Alex Magno of Pula, Poblacion, Tuba, Benguet; both were victims of landslides and; Marlyn Binay-an of Camp 3, Tuba, Benguet; she was hit by falling debris.

Those injured were Caroline Dangbis, Regina Palawag, Pilay Malute, Perciebal Cayboen, Joseph Comicho and Linda Saliwaga.

According to the report, 42 houses were damaged—4 were totally wrecked, 38 are partially damaged.

Initial estimates place damages to roads and agriculture at P11.4 million.
