Adding insult to the nation’s grief

RHETORICS, as well as, moro-moro peace talks, will not bring about peace in Muslim Mindanao.

They’re just all that—talk, talk… double talk by both sides.

We have a weak, half-hearted leader blabbering about pursuing “all-out justice” but not war with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF)

On the other side are the glib-tongued terrorists, who offer a handshake and then shoot you in the back.

Noynoy Aquino must stop this double talk at the same time pleading with the MILF for help to catch the criminals behind the recent ambuscades.

The MILF had immediately owned responsibility for the slaughter of at least 26 Army soldiers and wounding many others in week-long attacks in Basilan and Zamboanga.

And yet, Noynoy categorically absolved the MILF from committing these war crimes, short of blaming the AFP for encroaching MILF’s territories.

An apologetic Noynoy desperately called on the MILF to stay at the negotiating table.

Noynoy must stop this lip-service of absurdity.

You, Mr. Aquino, are merely adding insult to the nation’s grief over the death of our soldiers.

You have dishonored our heroes and betrayed their widowed families and a nation crying out for justice.

Days before Noynoy secretly met with MILF leader Murad Ebrahim, seven Navy captives were shot dead, two were beheaded by an Abu Sayyaf faction of the MILF.

After MILF promised to talk peace, they launched ambuscades and bombings.

Our troops are treacherously being attacked left and right.

Our public school buildings, which were also used as evacuation centers for displaced civilians were literally cut down by MILF terrorists’ bullets.

And, all PNoy has to offer are empty rhetorics.

Just all kaetchingan.

Noynoy’s Think-Tank is very good at coining euphemisms all right.

I wish they were also very good at coming up with realistic counter-insurgency solutions.

I’m neither a fan nor a political supporter of Erap but I agree with his suggestion of waging an all-out war against the MILF.

Military operations during Erap’s term as Commander-in-Chief were quite effective putting the MILF under control and in the defensive.

Sans wordplay, Bigote put it succinctly, “Sometimes we need war to achieve peace.”

Erap may be a better student of world history than the Atenista in Malacañang.

Military authorities know where the MILF and Abu Sayyaf terrorists are now.

We have money to buy a decommissioned ’65 model US Coast Guard search and rescue “four-chopper carrier.”

Then, we must have money to buy bullets for our disadvantaged Army troops.

In Basilan, our Army troops reportedly ran out of bullets during the day-long firefight with the MILF, leaving 19 dead.

It is high time we send well-armed and fully-equipped AFP fighters and take control of MILF and Abu Sayyaf lairs in western Mindanao.

Yes, it is easier said than done.

But, we gotta do what we gotta do.

The question is… Does the Commander- in-Chief have the balls to carry the war into the enemy’s camp?
