New biography details Pacquiao’s spiritual awakening

Filipino boxing superstar Manny “PacMan” Pacquiao has been under crossfire several times in his life. Coming from a very poor family in a rural town, he fought for survival in the streets.

His father left them. He used to fight on an empty stomach, and for any amount to buy food for himself and his family. When he became rich and famous, he was accused of philandering and being a fake Christian, among others. He ran and lost in a national election. He was fooled by people he trusted.

C.S. Granville’s new book, Pacquiao Under Crossfire effectively captures the People’s Champ’s life. He conveys “the inspiration from stories lived by world-famous boxer, Manny Pacquiao” with a “rich level of detail, bold perspective, lively analysis and more,” according to the Xulon Press review.

Granville describes his book as an argument: “Pacquiao Under Crossfire is an argument in favor of taking Pacquiao seriously and it is addressed in part, at least, to those who either trivialize or idolize him. It is also an argument addressed to those who thereby miss his dynamic and transforming quality of spiritual and moral grounding at the altar of the Maharlikan nation.”

But the difference of this work from all other Pacquiao biographies, is it is an invitation for one to enter into a loving relationship with Jesus Christ, our Creator, Lord and Saviour, just as Manny recently did.

“Granville surely revealed the real Pacquiao,” said Reyfort Media Group founder Rey Fortaleza, one of the phenomenal “boxing brothers” of the country who was the Philippines’ most outstanding amateur boxer in 1975 and 1976, a former Olympic boxer who won six golds, one silver and two bronzes in 11 international boxing competitions. He is now a successful entrepreneur in Vancouver.

“I bought it online at Amazon, it is controversial,” was all businessman Randy Dayrit could say.

C.S. Granville, also known as Countryman Simeon Granville, is a credentialed journalist and a syndicated political columnist in the United States. He is well-known to boxing aficionados and political thinkers for his challenging insights.

He writes for The Western Center for Journalism. He has also been an active contributor to Examiner.com and other media outlets. Dozens of his best articles are jam-packed with meat and best regarded as reliable sources for broadcast information and for several broadsheets and Internet publications.

Xulon Press, a division of Salem Communications, is the world’s largest Christian self-publisher, with more than 8,000 titles published to date. Pacquiao Under Crossfire sells for $16.99 (paperback), $26.99 (hardcover), and $31.99 (dust jacket). The book is also available online through xulonpress.com/bookstore, amazon.com, and barnesandnoble.com.
