Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Chairman Richard Gordon recently lauded the Filipino artists’ community for helping the victims of Typhoon Pablo through an art exhibit at Fort Santiago in Manila whose proceeds will benefit displaced families in Compostela Valley.
“I commend the officers and members of the Intramuros Visual Artists of the Philippines for showing compassion for the victims of this latest disaster,” Gordon said.
Launched on December 21, the art exhibit will run until Monday Jan. 7 at the newly restored Intramuros Visitors’ Center in Fort Santiago in coordination with the Intramuros Administration (IA) and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.
The artists’ group will donate at least 10 percent of the proceeds through the PRC to the typhoon victims in Compostela.
Gordon said the artists can rest assured that the proceeds from the art sale will directly go to projects that will help the victims recover more quickly from the tragedy.
“The PRC needs all the help it can get from various sectors in society and from the international community so that we can rebuild communities and allow the typhoon victims to get back on their feet as soon as possible,” Gordon said.
Apart from recruiting volunteers for various relief and rehabilitation work in disaster areas, Gordon said, the PRC also continues to accept donations in cash and in kind for the victims of Typhoon Pablo.
