Robinsons Malls execs repaint St. Mary school in Concepcion
Just as the true worth and real intelligence of a man cannot be accurately gauged solely through his physical appearance, the quality of education that a school is able to provide cannot be measured by simply looking at its well-kept buildings.

It cannot be denied, however, that a good school environment is conducive to learning. Recognizing this, one of the country’s leading malls has taken it upon itself to repaint the St. Mary the Anawin of Gods Institute in Concepcion, Iloilo.

The project is part of the regional rollout of The Gift of Change ICare program of Robinsons Malls. Since 1997, The Gift of Change program has been part of Robinsons Malls’ corporate social responsibility program that is geared towards helping sustainability projects benefiting underprivileged Filipinos. While the program initially involved only seven malls in Metro Manila and Rizal province (including Robinsons Galleria, Robinsons Place Manila, Robinsons Otis, Forum Robinsons) the construction of Robinsons Malls in other parts of the country has made it possible to expand Icare’s reach. This year, The Gift of Change Icare program was implemented in 30 Robinsons Malls throughout the country, where donation boxes for toys, books and clothes were strategically places. The projects is expected to have an even more extensive reach as Robinsons opens new malls in 2013.

In Iloilo, the St. Mary the Anawin of Gods Institute was chosen as the beneficiary for 2012. St. Mary the Anawin of Gods Institute was one of five mission schools identified by the Archdiocese of Jaro that could benefit from assistance from Robinsons Malls Iloilo. With 20 gallons of paint donated by Davies, the archdiocese determined that St. Mary the Anawin of Gods was in most need of repainting. But before the project could begin, however, it was also discovered that the school building also needed minor changes and repairs on its façade. Fortunately, Robinsons Land Corp. contractor Dakay Construction & Development donated plywood and such materials for undertaking. The school administration took charge of the minor renovation.

Following the ceremonial painting on November 29, 2012, Robinsons Place Iloilo group property manager Ditas Taleon and Fr. Bernabe Tutana, Jr., Parish Priest of The Immaculate Concepcion, Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC) officials joined in the activity and tuned over boxes containing assorted clothing, toys and magazines. In addition, assorted educational children’s books were also turned over to the school.
