WORLD Boxing Organization (WBO) flyweight champion Brian Viloria is bracing for a tough defense of his crown against challenger Giovani Segura of Mexico in a 12-round bout slated December 11 at the Ynares Gym in Pasig City.
The 31-year-old Viloria (29-3-0 win-loss-draw with 16 knockouts) vowed he wouldn’t allow the 29-year-old Segura (28-1-1 with 24 KOs) to snatch his title away, “I’m ready to face him. He punches hard so I need to be careful. I need to be more aggressive to win. Right now, I’m hoping God will be there to guide me.” Viloria, admitted that Segura is no easy target.
Dubbed “The Hawaiian Punch,” Viloria, beat Omar Sotto of Mexico last year and defeated American Julius Cesar Miranda for the WBO title last July in Honolulu Hawaii.
Segura, rated ninth best world’s pound-for-pound boxer in the world by Ring Magazine, is known for his knockout punches. The Mexican is already here in the country undergoing training at Jupiter gym in Makati City, “This fight is very important to me, so I’m working very hard,” said Segura.
