• Indian firm to help victims of typhoon

India-based agricultural input manufacturer Prathista International Corp. has committed P13.5-million worth of organic fertilizers to the Philippine government, in an effort to revive agriculture activities and income opportunities of farmers affected by Super Typhoon Yolanda.

In a letter to Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala, Prathista President K.V.S.S. Sairam said that the company would provide the Department of Agriculture (DA) with 100 metric tons of Aishwarya—a balanced nutritional fertilizer—to partly support small land-holding farmers in the affected areas.

“We will be shipping the product from our manufacturing facility situated in Hyderabad, India, to Manila or any other port in Philippines as per your office advise at our cost and rest of local logistic arrangements, including getting tax-free clearance from Bureau of Customs,” Sairam said.

He also said that the company is ready to provide all technical assistance in the application of Aishwarya product for DA personnel, who will manage and coordinate the distribution to affected farmers.
