THREE members of an Indian kidnap-for-ransom syndicate were arrested on Wednesday by the police after a failed abduction try of Shiek Temple’s vice president in Manila. Facing attempted kidnapping before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office were Indians Jaginder Singh, 42, and Amarjiy Singh, 54, and Filipino Gemma Singh, 41. Chief Insp. Arsenio Riparip, head of the Manila Police District-General Assignment and Investigation Section (MPD-GAIS), said the attempted abduction of Gurdev Singh took place on Wednesday at about 2 p.m. in the parking lot of Shiek Temple located along United Nations. Gurdev, 65, of 1097 Jordan Plains Subdivision, Salvadore Street, Novaliches, Quezon City, had just emerged from the temple and was about to board his Mitsubishi sedan with conduction sticker BV 0428 when the suspects approached him. However, Temple guards saw the commotion and told the suspects to surrender. The suspects tried to escape but patrolling policemen blocked their way.
