ZAMBOANGA CITY: An Indian engaged in money lending was seriously wounded after two motorcycle gunmen attacked him in Putik village here. Sukhjinder Singh, 28, was heading home on board a motorcycle when the gunmen shot him in the head and body with a .45 caliber pistol late Thursday. The suspects fled after the incident. Police said the victim was rushed to the hospital and that an investigation is ongoing to determine the identities and motives of the attackers. Late last year, 23-year old Indian trader Harpreet, who operates a small buy-and-sell appliance business, lost his cell phone to two men who also tried to steal his motorcycle in Tetuan village. A small group of Indian businessmen have been living in Zamboanga, some even married locals to legitimize their stay in the country.
