Indonesia reduces size of SEA Games contingent

JAKARTA: Indonesia has cut the number of athletes that it will send to the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Singapore to 500 after organizers reduced quotas, an official said. The chief of a task force in charge of preparing athletes for the games, Suwarno, said that 56 athletes had been removed, and Indonesia was now concentrating on areas where it stood the best chance of winning medals. Cycling, rowing and boxing all lost athletes because of the reduction in numbers, said the official, who like many Indonesians goes by one name. The Southeast Asian Games will take place from June 5 to16.
