• Infamous racket now a video game

An enterprising video game developer from Sampaloc, Manila, has turned the infamous bullet-planting (tanim-bala) extortion racket into a video game for mobile phone users.

Argene Tanyong, 31, of Kulit Games told The Manila Times that he spent two and half days to create the game from scratch.

Tanim-Bala the Mobile Game is the first mobile game Tanyong created for Android. He made numerous flash games in the past like Water Buboy, Paper Warfare, Heavy Pawnage, Graveyard Madness and Acne Panic among others.

Tanyong said the Tanim-Bala will be available for iOS users soon.
He has been creating games since 2009.

“I started drawing the game on Sunday, then I made the code. Doing the code was easy and by Wednesday night, the ‘Tanim Bala’ game was made available at Google Playstore,” Tanyong said.

As of Friday night, the game got a rating of 4.7 stars and were rated by 706 people.

“These greedy Administrators want to plant a bullet in your bag and if they succeed.you’ll end up paying $1000. Of course you would not let them do that!” the game’s description read.

To play the game, a player would simply move the “traveler” character left or right to dodge the bullets “airport security” are dropping.

Tanyong explained that the game was made out of frustration.

“Lahat naman po tayo naiinis na. The game was made dahil sa frustration sa nangyayari sa NAIA [Ninoy Aquino International Airport]. Mayroon akong nakitang mga umiiyak na travelers. Dama ko yung pakiramdam ng mga nabiktima kahit wala ako dun sa lugar nila
[We’re all pissed off. We’ve seen travelers crying and we feel their pain even if we’re not at the airport],” he said.

Tanyong admitted that not everybody finds the game amusing based on negative reviews the game got.

“Kahit paano sana maging pantanggal stress na rin sana yung game. Ako, natatawa po ako noong dino-drawing ko pa lang siya. Sana yung iba matanggal yung stress dahil dito. Yun lang naman po [In a way, I hope the game would relieve one of stress. I myself was laughing while I was drawing the game],” he said.
