THE government on Tuesday gave P22.5 million cash rewards to nine informants who help neutralized communist and terrorist leaders. Armed Forces Vice Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Romeo Tanalgo handed the rewards ranging from P350,000 to P5.8 million to nine tipsters that led to the killing or arrest of leaders of the Abu Sayyaf Group and the New People’s Army. Arrested with the help of military informants were Eduardo Esteban, alias Esteban Manuel/Bonnie/Benny/Pilo, a ranking NPA leader wanted for murder in Abra province and Dominiciano Muya, alias Atoy/Marco, wanted for robbery with double homicide in Agusan del Sur and multiple murder and double frustrated murder in Malaybalay City. Esteban was captured in 2014 in Iloilo City. The informant who tipped off his whereabouts received P5.8 million reward. Muya, tagged in the murder of Police Officer 1 Marito Correos and PO1 Rey Mangoya Ejercito in Bayugan, Agusan del Sur and the killing of five militias and a civilian in Malaybalay City, was arrested in Tagum City in 2014. He carries P4.8 million reward.
