OSAKA, Japan: Japan’s Kazuto Ioka extended his undefeated streak by knocking out Thai challenger Kwanthai Sithmorseng to retain the World Boxing Association light-flyweight title in Osaka on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila). Ioka, a former minimumweight (strawweight) champion in both the WBA and the World Boxing Council, dominated the fight from the first round and floored the Thai with a left body blow followed by a left hook to the face. It was Ioka’s third straight knockout victory since he clinched a vacant WBA light-flyweight title by beating Jose Alfredo Rodriguez of Mexico by technical knockout in Osaka last New Year’s Eve.
