The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Manila commemorated on March 20 “Nowruz,” or the Iranian New Year. Literally “new day” in Farsi, Nowruz is the most widely celebrated holiday of the Islamic country, as well as across the Middle East and Central Asia. It marks the first day of spring and the Persian new Year. It is also considered the most important and most colorful festival for it embodies a wealth of ancient rites and custom. Moreover, it is the only celebration that is not confined to the traditions of one religious group.
