A FOREIGNER was arrested on Sunday evening for possession of illegal drugs at the Laoag International Airport (LIA) by the Aviation Security Command (ASC) in Laoag City. Police identified the foreigner as Eanna O’Cochlain, 53, Irish, who was arrested while checking in at LIA at about 7:15 p.m. Supt. Jeffrey Gorospe, Ilocos Norte police spokesman, said the ASC has found two marijuana sticks in the suspect’s possession during a regular airport inspection. Reports said the sale of marijuana drugs reportedly coming from the Cordillera region is rampant and identified foreign tourists as among buyers. The Provincial Anti Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group has endorsed the suspect to the local police in Laoag City. Police said they are preparing to file charges for violation of Republic Act 0165 also called as the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
