ILOILO CITY: The city council on Tuesday approved a resolution calling for the investigation of irregularities in markets. City councilor Joshua Alim said the probe will start at the terminal market and to proceed at the central in the awarding of stalls, the selling and lease-out of stalls by other persons and not with the city government and the tapping of electricity from the markets by unscrupulous persons for personal gain. There are more than 1,000 stalls under evaluation in the city’s seven public markets. So far, only 85 stalls have been evaluated at the terminal market and more than 50 were already declared vacant by the city public market committee upon discovery of the irregularities.
