Hollywood actor spotted with socialite Wendy Puyat

SANS security or fanfare, Hollywood actor Owen Wilson arrived in Manila on Friday afternoon at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. Looking relaxed and carefree as most of his roles on the big screen, the blonde comedian was caught on camera by ABS-CBN wearing a blue polo shirt, a pair of sunglasses and a cap, saying he was “just visiting” the country.
All the same, the question still remains. Why—and more importantly who—is he visiting?
Wilson, who Filipino moviegoers just saw in February as bohemian rock star Hansel in the comedy Zoolander 2 with Ben Stiller, is rumored to be dating Filipino socialite and fashion designer Wendy Puyat.
Beautiful and fashionable, Puyat was one of Manila’s “It Girls” in the early 2000s, and part of Celine Lopez’ erstwhile “Gucci Gang.”
In 2002, Puyat, who is the daughter of the “godfather of Philippine billiards” Putch Puyat, married Anthony Hotung, who, on the other hand, is the son of Chinese retail taipan Eric Hotung.
Their union was talk of the town back then with both their pedigrees. The Puyats operate the biggest billiards centers in the country, where champions like Efren “Bata” Reyes and Francisco “Django” Bustamante would play; while the Hotungs own big retail stores in major cities in China like Shanghai besides Hong Kong.
Following their wedding, Puyat joined her husband in Hong Kong where she was naturally welcomed into high society.
Unfortunately, their marriage ended in 2008 after rumors circulated on blogsphere that Puyat was having an affair with a European whom she introduced to everyone as her “yoga instructor.”
In 2014, society columnist Maurice Arcache confirmed in his column for another newspaper that Puyat had returned to Manila’s social scene.
Checking Puyat’s Instagram account (@wendypuyat), it seems the stunner of a Filipina has spent the last several years travelling the world, with her latest posts coming from South Korea and Japan.
Puyat, besides designing swim and resort wear for her brand Por do Sol, which is sold in several major cities abroad, she also describes herself on Instagram as a “luxury travel writer.”
However, she has no posts to even give a hint that she is the lady Wilson is visiting in the country.
Late Sunday afternoon, however, Lifestyle society columnist Becky Garcia texted The Manila Times confirming, “Owen is now at the [Manila] Polo Club with Wendy watching the horse show,” after a girl friend of hers had a selfie taken with the Hollywood star.
