ILAGAN CITY, Isabela: The provincial government here kicks off today the week-long Bambanti (scarecrow) Festival, one of Cagayan Valley’s grandest annual festivities, with celebrations and outdoor activities until January 30. Gov. Faustino “Bojie” Dy 3rd said the province has a well-established tradition of celebrating the annual Bambanti Festival, now on its 20th year, as a demonstration of thanksgiving for the Isabeliños consistently rich agriculture harvest. Dy said the festival will also be an opportunity to again pay tribute to Isabelino farmers in making Isabela a consistent top corn-producing province and second in rice production in the country. “We celebrate the diligence, resilience and vigilance that characterize the Isabela farmers and established the province as the country’s number one corn producer and biggest rice surplus producer,” Dy said.
