Isabela DENR seizes 2 trucks of ‘hot’ logs

SAN ISIDRO, Isabela: At least 2,159 board feet of illegally transported lumber loaded in two trucks were confiscated in the village of Malannit in Jones town on Tuesday.

The Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) here said the confiscation of said lumber also resulted in the arrest of the truck drivers for violating environmental laws.

Mindo Aquino, CENRO officer, said the confiscated lumber had no proper permit or documents to travel from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Quirino where the lumbers originated.

The confiscated lumbers are now impounded at CENRO–San Isidro which also recommended the filing of charges against the truck drivers for violating Section 68 of Presidential Decree 705 or the Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines.
