While fans of the former team-up of Zanjoe Marudo and Cristine Reyes are excited to see them together again in ABS-CBN’s upcoming primetime series Tubig at Langis, The Manila Times has its eyes on the beautiful Isabelle Daza, who completes the love triangle in the TV adaptation of yet another Danny Zialcita classic.
Although the public hoped the daughter of former Miss Universe Gloria Diaz would follow in her mother footsteps—blessed with both the looks and wit for the pageant—Isabelle has clearly found her niche as an actress.
In the past several years, the 27-year-old beauty proved that she has chops for acting, appearing in GMA Network’s Niño and Indio, among, others, and when she moved to ABS-CBN, as lawyer Martha Lacsamana in Nathaniel.
As she takes on a third of the top billing in Tubig at Langis, The Manila Times asked her on Friday how she feels about her career and what her famously outspoken mother has to say about her craft and her celebrity.
“She is actually one of the deciding factors why I’ve chosen to be in this network because she has always said to me that I should do something that makes me feel fulfilled. Something that makes me feel proud every day when I wake up,” shared Isabelle.
“And I’m very happy where I am now and up to now, I do listen to what my mother has to say, whether or not I ask for her advice,” she added with a giggle. “Because really, she does know a thing or two about staying long in this business.”
In Tubig at Langis, Isabelle plays a country lass named Clara, with whom Zanjoe’s character Natoy falls in love. Natoy, however, is married to Irene (Cristine) who will do everything in her power to protect her family.
Also included in the cast of Tubig at Langis are Vivian Velez, Lito Pimentel, Nadia Montenegro, Marco Gumabao, Ingrid Dela Paz, Dionne Monsanto, Archie Alemanie, Victor Silayan, and Miguel Vergara. It is directed by FM Reyes, and will begin airing weeknights on ABS-CBN beginning February 1.
